Hello Everyone.
Just thought I would introduce myself as my mother was raised in Wedmore.
My name is Martin Field and my mother's maiden name was Eileen Mapstone -
they lived on the borough just down from the bakery.
Her father, Norman was a carpenter and apparently was well known in sports,
especially cricket.
We have managed to go back to the early 1700's and have the origin of the
name as coming from Lustleigh, Devon sometime in the 1300's - a local farmer
called Maetta.
I'm over here in Canada - Oshawa, Ontario to be precise, just 30 miles east
of Toronto.
I have;nt done much with the family history for several years now although I
hope I can be of some help in answering any questions.
Best Regards
Martin.
