Hi Pastor Steve and all the others writing about Millards,
First--are you pastor Steve Griffith we met in Taunton? Think this must mean a new
address & why I have not reached you!

Then, to Mary Jackes who included what I sent re: Dyersville book. I truly doubt
that my Tincknell, Parker, Walls, Millard, Counsel, Evans, etc ancestors in
Dyersville were among those having problems with alcohol. As I recall from the book
it was the aristocratic emigrants who were drinking heavily. From family history,
this group of ancestors were pretty much against alcohol. Roger Roper has sent
information on the Hugh Roper family receiving a dispensation to begin a Baptist
group but after his daughters Betsey Tincknell & Jane Evans came to Dyersville they
attended the Methodist church. The Tincknell & Parker descendants were charter
members of the Methodist church when they moved west to Alta, IA However, there
were some who remained Baptist, including Jane Tincknell Evans.

Someone today made a comment about intermarriages in Wedmore--well, it looks to me
that it continued with the group who emigrated to Dyersville and then on west. At
least, all these Wedmore names kept showing up in our family!

Looking at Gail Millard's list of Robt Millard's children I found a George, but
doesn't look like the right time frame for the George Millard I am interested in
finding.
Do any of you have info on a George Millard, land surrveyor in Wedmore when his
daughter, Ann, married William Parker on 14 May 1840? The 1841 census shows Ann's
age as 20 making her born abt 1821. Husband Wm (son of Wm Parker in Wedmore) was
25--son George Millard Parker 6 mo (bapt. 19-11-1840), later followed by Mary
10-10-1842 & Elizabeth 17-03-1844 (thanks to look-up from Stan Mapstone).
Am interested in finding where this George Millard fits!
Thanks for any help.
Sandi McGinnis P.S. Sure wish I could be in Wedmore in Aug & meet Lyn
after all these years of corresponding!
