Hi again Simon,
I also descend from Hugh Roper but with wife Jane Davis.  I have John,
baptized 6 Nov 1811 or 1812 a brother of my gr-gr-grandmother Betsey Roper
Tincknell Parker.  Have him married to Betsy Wheeler on 10 Oct 1844 at Cheddar
Baptist Chapel  (Hugh was one of the charter members of this Baptist society
as I understand from Roger Roper).  Have Betsy Wheeler as daughter of John
Wheeler a labourer.  Know that John had a son Samuel who lived in Burlington,
Racine Co, Wisconsin most of his life but died in Alta, Iowa on Feb 18, 1933
after becoming the ward of his first cousin Abbie Evans Wall.  Have copies of
Samuel Roper's will & guardian papers.
Think this looks like the same John you are inquiring about.  Roger Roper has
additional but I'll be glad to share details of what I have on Samuel if this
is new to you.  Let me know.
