Two messages from me - regarding Dyersville 1850 census data - are held up
for the moderator's ok. I have unsubscribed and resubscribed using a new
personal email address, because there must have been problems with the list
server regarding my initial subscription, and in case of a proliferation of
messages.

Regarding people mentioned as living near Arthur Day in Minnesota, I
managed to track down the following, certainly Wedmore area names:-

George Persons, who seems to have travelled with Arthur Day from Dyersville
IA to St. Charles MN, is buried with his wife in the same cemetery as
Arthur Day, and his dates are given as follows:

PERSONS, GEORGE 01-19-1825 TO 03-04-1910
PERSONS, ELIZA 03-12-1830 TO 11-26-1908

The LDS site states that George is the son of John Persons, 1803-1863, who
is supposed to be buried in the same cemetery in Minnesota, along with his
wife Elizabeth Williams. One of John Person's daughters is specified as
being born 26 Mar 1840 in Blackford, Somerset.

William Petheram married Emma Day in St Charles in 1853. They would have
been born around 1829 and 1834. Emma is recorded (LDS) as being Arthur
Day's daughter born in Weare. A comment on the web tells me the Petherams
were buried in South Dakota. I will see if I can contact this Petheram
descendant.

I would like to check the 1851 census to see whether William Petheram, John
Persons, Elizabeth (Wall) Day and most of her children were still in
Somerset - to establish where they came from and when they came to the US.
