I have taken a little extra time to see where there might be more Wedmore
area people around Dyersville. I know there might be others around,
judging from the situation at St. Charles where Arthur and Daniel Day
actually lived on adjoining farms, but were assessed in the 1860 census
very far apart, because of the way in which the census taker moved down the
roads.
Here are other names (some mentioned in Sandi's transcription of Halbach's
book - see earlier message). I can confirm details for anyone who wants me
to check on specific families.
561 578 Chesterman family recent arrivals, he was a machinist - image 81
593 615 Lockey family arrived at least 10 years before
599 622 Hutchinson family recent arrivals - image 86
636 659 Popham family - Henry 22, his wife, 26 and infant - image 91
Rigg next to the Cox family listed previously (earlier message)
the Plaister family can be found (image 236) in household 1757 1807 - there
are two brothers, one a clerk, one a painter, a wife and young child -
nobody around there is a farmer, so this must have been the settlement area.
