Hi Michael and everyone
As the list at this stage is relatively quiet. I wonder whether the scope =
of the list might be expanded a little to cover what might be called the =
social history as well as genealogy of the Wedmore area.
As an example, and this will probably sound weird, my Dad has told me that =
his father used to eat Snails, (not a purely French dish) fried in butter, =
which he used to gather from around the clewer area. I would like to know =
whether this was common among the agricultural community of Wedmore or was =
my Grandfather an oddball. Dad also tells me that he has been to "Hedghog =
roasts" in the area. These were social gatherings like a BBQ. (No he is =
not winding me up). These are all mixed up with stories of rayballing and =
spear fishing which I know to have been reasonably common in the area.=20
Has any one else heard this kind of thing or are my family just weird?
All the best=20
