Hi Lyn
Sorry - meant to get back to you before, re: the Quarter Sessions Books. =
As I mentioned, they come from Taunton lending library, which I know =
isn't much use to you, but I am happy to transcribe for you if you let =
me know what things you're looking for - such as names, etc.
Reference contesting of wills, I haven't seen anything within the books =
I have that relates to the subject, and I have a feeling that such a =
subject would be covered by a different court? I may be wrong, but the =
old English legal system is famously complex!
A lot of Somerset wills were, unfortunately, destroyed during World War =
2. They were carted off to Exeter castle, in Devon, for "safe keeping". =
Exeter castle was blitzed, many of the wills were destroyed, while =
(ironically) Taunton escaped the bombings almost entirely!
Why? Is there a particular will that you are looking for?
Cheers!
Sue

Hi Sue
Where does one get this book? And have you noticed anything about =
contesting Wills? Probably not their jurisdiction, but I remember noting =
such an event in an index of something I found at my FHS. I do have it =
all written down just can't remember off the top of my head and with the =
comment the other day about a lot of Wills being destroyed - contested =
Wills might have been recorded elsewhere.
regards
Lyn
