Hi Julie
Dr Westover was one of the "Westovers of Wedmore" (a family who were =
resident in the village since the year dot!). He was born in 1643, and =
died in 1706 - an interesting time in English history. Dr Westover was =
a medical doctor, and quite a character, by all accounts. He kept a =
journal of the day to day happenings in Wedmore, his patients, their =
ailments and cures, etc - a social document, if you like.
If you have a look at the Wedmore Chronicles, Book 2 (which you can =
access from this site) there's quite a lot about him, and it's well =
worth reading. Many of us would like to read more of his Journal, =
either because we are related to him, or purely out of interest - he was =
a fascinating gentleman.
