Someone asked a question about newspapers.
The paper published nearest to Wedmore was the Wells Journal. I'm not =
sure of the date it was first published but it about 1850.
The Weston-super-Mare Gazette started at about the same time.
The Taunton Courier started mid(?) 18th Century and there were a several =
Bristol papers, the oldest of them started in 1725.
There were also Bath papers from 1744
The most fruitful for Wedmore news are the Wells Journal and the =
Weston-super-Mare Gazette.
Microfilm (or at Bristol actual papers) of the copies that survive can =
be consulted at the Public libraries in the towns mentioned in the title =
of the paper.
Michael has put some clips from the Wells and Weston papers on his web =
site, www.tutton.org .
