Only the workhouse at this stage - it seemed the obvious first place to
look.

Oral history says there was a visitor, Eva Burr to Australia in about 1918,
who was a relative. Eva would have been reasonably wealthy to have made the
trip but Annie never received any kind of "endowment" that I know of. She
had an illigitimate child herself in 1879 who was adopted out by the Creedon
family of Wedmore. I imagine it was because she couldn't support a child.
She kept in touch with her though but maybe my GGrandfather was not willing
to take the child when he married (doesn't seem likely as he was a
compassionate man). Annie was able to write and she had good handwriting.
Her spelling was correct but her grammar was as she spoke.... not correct by
today's standard but perhaps it was then.

If she was born in Glastonbury would the parish there have paid for her
education or whatever one Binegar was under if that happened? I intend to
look at all these things when I am over there in August. This is why I am
doing a little enquiring first so I know what or where to look for things.
