Hi to the List,
Have just returned yesterday from a trip which included research in
Burlington, Racine County, Wisconsin and Dyersville, IA. Am still
unpacking but will try in the next few days to send what I have of
general interest to the list Found the people at both historical
societies to be very helpful. However, our ancestors who came to
Wisconsin in the late 1840's and then on to the Dyersville area--both
Dubuque and Delaware counties--in the early 1850's are not always easy
to track! They were not keeping state records of births and deaths in
those days, etc, so it takes a bit of luck to find them!

Lyn Nunn: We did find a Thomas and Sarah Duckett of Somerset, Eng in
the cemetery in Burlington, Wis--somewhere I have the dates written
down. Could they be yours? Will try to get through my stuff very soon
so I can let you know the dates. When do you leave for England? May
have one marriage--James Curry and Mary Ann Roper Hole--(probably 1840's
but that is a guess) that you and Steve could watch for for me if
possible?

Also found some info that helps explain the exodus of many English from
Dyersville and will copy that when I find it!

Am still reading the e-mails that arrived while we were gone for 3 wk
and am seeing quite a few about James Dyer so am going to go back to
reading them. My address book is down and non-retrivable currently, so
it is very frustrating to getting e-mails out to individuals!

Mary Jackes, I found an e-mail to the list (June 24) in which you said
"...and took note of most Parker/Radford events for Sandi" which is very
interesting???

More later,
