[WED]Aliases - possible explanation?

Rev Hervey gives some other suggestions for aliases in the Wedmore Chronicle
(eg village of birth as well as father's name) - and there is also evidence
for so-called base-born children at different times adopting one or other or
both of mother's and putative father's names..
