According to Pamela Slocombe (Mark: a Somerset Moorland Village, p.83) =
Robert Yescombe Chapman's will was proved in 1837 (citing DT Hawkings =
Index to Somerset Wills, 1995).

Edward Yescombe's fascinating note suggests a possible reason for the =
older Sabra Chapman's birth in 1779 not being registered in Wedmore, =
i.e. the impending sale of Robert Yescombe's lands, which may have =
obliged his tenant Philip Chapman to move elsewhere.=20

  Hello John,
  =20
Being suitably refreshed by three hours sleep, I rang the Somerset =
Record Office this afternoon, and they confirmed (as my kind =
Mr?Ms?Yescombe correspondent warned) that for safe keeping (!) =
Somerset's wills were sent down to Exeter in Devon during World War II. =
There, ironically, the vast majority were destroyed in the bombing, =
while Taunton got through the war relatively unscathed. I'm going to =
call into SRO anyway next week; some wills, apparently, had been =
previously transcribed, and I'm going to look through their catalogues, =
just on the off-chance that they may have some of family relevance. I =
will bear my fellow researchers family data (that I know of) in mind as =
I search, but if I find any of your lost inheritances, I will expect a =
goodly share!
  =20
  All the best,
  =20
  Sue
