Hi Fellow Listers,
I have resubscribed after a short break during which time I dabbled in the
complexities of Scottish Genealogy - let me tell you, it is SO nice to be
back!
I'm "on the scrounge", I'm afraid, so some things don't change. I still
haven't been able to determine the maiden name of my 3G Grandmother. I know
only that she was Jane from "Stoll", which could mean Stowell, Stawell,
Bri-stoll (!). The 1851 census entry reads:
(From Census 2, Coombe Batch, Mill Lane, Flood Street)
102
WRIDE Charles 55 Ag. Lab South Brent, Som.
Jane 50 Stoll Somerset
William 11 Scholar Wedmore, Som.
John 9 Scholar Wedmore, Som.
Elizabeth 14 Wedmore, Som.
Does anyone have access to the 1841 or 1861 census of Wedmore? Neither
Charles nor Jane are still around in 1881 (which I have), but I'm hopeful
that another census might give clearer details of where she was born. Or,
indeed, if you have any ideas for tracking down their marriage, I would be
SO-O-O-OO-O grateful!!
Best wishes,
Sue Hembury-Kellow
