Hi everyone,
Firstly I would like to jump into the discussion of Ducketts by =
Lynn Nunn and Nancy Green. The Edwin Duckett that married Sarah Binning =
is I believe my second cousin five times removed. I have him as the last =
child of William Duckett baptised 27 Dec 1773 and Ann Brown baptised 22 =
Jun 1774 both at Wedmore. They married at Wells St.Cuthberts on 25 Jan =
1794.
Their first three children namely George , Elizabeth and Mary were =
baptised at Wedmore. Whether they moved to Wells St.Cuthberts Without =
after the birth of their third child or were already living there but =
continued to baptise their children at Wedmore I do not know. It seems =
that they had at least four more children besides Edwin and the three =
baptised at Wedmore who in Census returns give their place of birth as =
either Sutton , Milton , Wells or Wookey. I do see both a Lower Milton =
and an Upper Milton on my Ordnance Survey map and it appears that Lower =
Milton might well be contained within the parish of Wookey. I have not =
located a Sutton. In any event the Wedmore parish records indicate that =
Ann Brown Duckett died at Milton and was buried at Wedmore on 8 Dec 1830 =
aged 57 years. Her husband William incidently died at Burnham in 1851 =
and was buried at Wedmore.
Edwin Duckett by the time of the 1851 Census was living at Weare =
and had three children namely Mary Ann , William Brown and the Elizabeth =
mentioned by Nancy Green. I have no knowledge of these folks beyond this =
point.
Dinah Duckett baptised 1812 is the first cousin of Elizabeth =
Duckett son of Edwin. I do seem to remember having some problems with =
their grandfather Joseph as to whether or not he married twice. By the =
way the parish records indicate that Dinah Duckett died in Aug 1850 so =
who exactly is Dinah Green?
Secondly just wanted to respond to the last post of my new found =
'cuz' Fay Edgar. I am descended from the marriage of Matilda Clarke and =
Edward Brown the son of William Brown and Phoebe Toogood. This is the =
William born at Stawell that you mentioned in your first post. Old =
William Brown of Mudgley that married Hannah Batt is my fifth great =
grandfather.
By the way you have someone kind of interesting over on your side =
of the tree there. George Brown and Ann Pooks second youngest son James =
married Fanny Hardwick in 1892 and I believe her to be the grandaughter =
of the Fanny Hardwick that on her deathbed confessed to aiding in a =
murder , ( see the Wedmore Chronicles ) . . . isn' t that an interesting =
family connection? This Fanny Brown having survived I believe three =
husbands can be found arriving at Ellis Island with her son George in =
Apr 1914 on her way to her son Stephen Leigh in Marcellus , Onandaga =
County , N.Y. Whether they were immigrating or just visiting I do not =
know but with WW1 just months away I hope for the sake of her son that =
they remained in the U.S.
Well its way past my bedtime so will have to say 'Goodnight' but =
would be interested in information on any of the above mentioned =
individuals.
      Best Wishes to all ,=20
