On many (but certainly not all) of the families there is reference to the
fact that Richard "Dickie" Baker returned yearly to England to bring
relatives back to Dubuque Co. to help him farm his land. Reading between
the lines it appears as though he helped get them on stable financial ground
and then they went on to farm their own land. Dickie was married to
Elizabeth Wall and there is reference to his being involved in the WALL,
COURT, COMER and a few other lines.

Is that the latest date we have heard of so far? That means that there was
continuous emigration to that one area for at least 30 years -- and
continuing contact. Somewhere there must be caches of letters which would
provide marvellous information on both the home and migrant communities.
