Tim and Stephen,
Jane BAKER bap.15 Feb 1829 in Wedmore was the 1st wife of William Baker. =
Though I have yet to find a marriage record location, I feel quite sure =
this was her name. Jane and William Wall had one child together - my =
great-grandmother, Amelia Jane Wall Greenwood b.29 July 1860. On =
Amelia's death certificate, it lists as Amelia's mother - Jane Baker. =
William married (2) Eliza Ann COX at St. Mary's of Croscrombe on 8 April =
1861, so Jane's death date falls between Amelia's birth and the =
remarriage. William and Eliza had several other children together, and =
the family did move to Dubuque County, IA between 1865-68.
William Wall's had at least three siblings who also emigrated to Dubuque =
County:
sister Jane Wall who married Joseph COUNSELL also emigrated.
sister Mary Ann Wall mar. John Green COMER and they emigrated about 1876
sister Elizabeth Wall mar. Richard "Dickie" BAKER - but I am not sure =
where they married.
I do not know anything further about the rest of the siblings of William =
Wall.

My perhaps imperfect understanding (based on info from Karla) is that =
Jane Baker bap 1829 in fact married that William Wall of Heathouse about =
1859 but she died a year or so later, upon which he married Elizabeth =
Ann Cox, and they moved to Dubuque, Iowa, about 1866.

I was interested in your recent post regarding the Comers. =
Here is what I have.=20
Thomas Comer baptized at Meare 22 Aug 1819 the son of John =
and Mary Comer. Thomas married Elizabeth Green at Wedmore in 1842 and =
they had at least the following children.
John Green Comer , George Green Comer , Elizabeth Comer , =
Eleanor Maria Comer , William Comer , Mary Ann Comer and Edward Comer. I =
had not realised that John Green Comers first wife was Mary Ann Wall . . =
. perhaps Stan or John might do a marriage look up. I believe they had a =
number of children together. His second wife was Amelia Elizabeth Pitman =
the daughter of William Pitman baptized at Edington 20 Aug 1831. She is =
the eldest sister of Robert Lee Pitman mentioned in a recent post by Tim =
Curtin. There were at least six children by this second marriage. Both =
John Green Comer and William Comer emigrated to Iowa. Elizabeth Comer I =
have tentatively married to Henry Tabor Teek son of Mathew Teek of =
Chapel Allerton. Mary Ann Comer was the first wife of my Great =
Grandfather George Brown.
George Green Comer was a lunatic but unlike nany others with =
this unfortunate condition was not institutionalised but rather kept at =
home. I vaguely remember my father telling me stories when I was a boy =
which he no doubt heard from his father about George becoming very =
eratic every full moon and his strange behavior. I recall being both =
intrigued and alarmed. The rest of the time he was apparently docile.
I have nothing on Edward or Eleanor Maria.
Please tell me more about the biography you mentioned and as =
to how I may get a copy.
Besides ' your ' Richard Baker there is another Richard Baker =
born Nov 1825 that married a Jane about 1863 and was also a farmer at =
Worthington. He emigrated in 1846 and is no doubt a grandson of Richard =
Baker and Mary Wall but who were his parents? As regards your mysterious =
Jane Baker I remember searching long and hard for her with no results. =
The Jane Baker baptised 15 Feb 1829 daughter of William Baker and Ann =
Duckett I think we agreed married Gabriel Cox in 1853. Have you in fact =
now found her? If not I recently had a brainstorm regarding this =
individual . . . rare for me . . LOL. I thought what if you were =
mistaken about her surname . . . what if her given name was Jane Baker. =
A quick look in the census reveals a Jane Baker Toogood who was baptized =
at Wedmore 20 Oct 1842, my first cousin four times removed , living at =
Westham in 1851. Westham is just down the road from Heathouse the home =
of William Wall. The paternal grandmother of this Jane Toogood was =
Elizabeth Cock possibly written as Cox. This Jane could be the person =
you are looking for . . . she might be about seventeen or eighteen in =
1859. I hate to bother anyone for a look up again but if there is a =
marriage about 1859 between a Jane Toogood and a William Wall it might =
bear your scutiny.
