Dear John,=20
Thanks for info. I have at hand a pr=E9cis of the Templar family. =
Prepared by a Warren Joy, of Glendale OH USA. He starts with Robert =
Templar of Banwell b ca1784/5, (says that he thinks Wm and Mary Templar =
of Banwell were his parents). Robert m Jane Day 7/9/1815, St Mary =
Redcliffe, Bristol.
Names their chn Charles bp11/2/1817: Robert bp13/1/1818: Wm bp =
23/2/1820 bur ?/2/1821 aged 1 yr: Wm, my GGgranfather, bp14/1/1822: =
Harriet,bp ?/2/1828, m Charles Hancock: and a Jane who may or not be a =
child ca1818/1825.
Warrens wife Joan is GGgranddaughter of Robert and Elizabeth =
Jefferies.I have recently made contact with this branch of the family, =
Robert and Charles both emigrated to US, we knew little of them at all. =
My mothers late cousin Peter Griffiths of Newport wrote out a Templars =
of Axbridge Fam Tree, what Warren Joy says only confirms the findings of =
Peter in regards to the 5 known chn of Robert and Jane Templar.
Sorry I don't have a scanner, I could send it rather than try to =
explain. Elizabeth Chapman m Charles Templar, recorded by both men, both =
say at Bedminster and in 1845.
Yes I have looked at the BMDs, and I think from memory that I have =
seen the name Comer with the Chapman name.=20
As an aside, Peter Griffiths is the the son of Jane Templar and George =
Day m 1880 in Bristol. you have a few people with Day connections.
Sorry, I guess this might raise more questions for you, but isn't that =
the excitement of genealogy..?
Thanks again John
Phyllis

Hi Phyliss
I can confirm Elizabeth Chapman was baptised 17th March 1822 at St. =
Mary's, Wedmore, daughter of George and Elizabeth. George was a Labourer =
of Wedmore. Page 120, record 955.
Have you looked at the 1851 Wedmore census to see where George and =
Elizabeth were both born? What gives you a feeling Elizabeth may have =
been related to the Comer family? How do you know Elizabeth jun. married =
Charles Templar in 1845 in the Bedminster District? You may have found =
it on "Free BMD".
I do have early Chapmans in my tree at Wedmore. I do have the =
registers after those that are on the net and am very slowly =
transcribing them, it will take at least another two years, so far up to =
1853 with baptisms, from 1812.
Sorry I'm not of more help, more questions than answers I'm afraid.
Good hunting.

Dear John,
I have been going through some family stuff..? and found that I =
have an Elizabeth Chapman,b 1822 in Wedmore,bp 17 March 1822 at a church =
in Wedmore. Her parents I think are George and Elizabeth Chapman, and I =
have a feeling that she is related to the Comer family. Elizabeth =
married Charles Templar 2/4 1845 in Bedminster District, but I'm unsure =
of the actual location or exact date.
Charles and Elizabeth moved to live in the Bristol area, prior to =
emigrating to US in 1858, where they settled in Cincinnati OH ca 1860, =
and then to Springfield OH ca 1864/75. Whereabouts after 1875 unknown. =
Also unknown are their dates and places of death and burial, but =
presumed to be in Ohio.=20
They had 4 chn, Harry Charles Templar b ca1846, in Bristol, Mary =
Jane Templar, 4/4 1848, Bristol District, James Augustus Templar b 19 =
Oct 1851,and Henry Charles Templar b 2/4 1855, Clifton Reg. District.
Henry Charles m an Ida Gronestein Wilson ca 1880/1884, she was b =
i26 May 1861 in Iowa, d Aug 1902, b 13 Aug 1902. His 2nd wife was =
aFrances J.......? ca 1907 in Minnesota. He d 22 Nov 1932 Ohama, =
Nebraska, and buried there also, along with ot near his first wife.
Another brother, Robert, married to Elizabeth Jefferies also went =
to Us settled in Odongada Co., NY.
Charles Templar is a brother to my GGgrandfather, it may be that =
this the connection which brought William Templar to Wedmore where he =
died and is buried. It has long puzzled me.
Do you know anything about the Chapmans...whether or not Elizabeth =
is the dau of Geo.& Eliz., and the connection with the Comers..?
Regards
Phyllis Pearson
