Thanks, John.  I have never found a baptism for our Joseph either.  Family
history has his father as William.  I have found (marriage, & 1841 census) a
William Parker married 14 May 1840 to Ann Millard (dau of George Millard,
Land surveyor) who lists his father as William Parker, carpenter.  Witnesses
were George Leigh & Henry Banwell.  The 1841 census shows this William
Parker as age 25, wife Ann age 20 with a son George age 6 months.  Thought
perhaps our Joseph was a brother of this William.  No proof, however.  At an
earlier time, Tim Curtin had suggested parents of John Millard were John &
Mary Carver Millard.
Joseph Parker is buried with his 2nd wife, Betsey Roper Tincknell Parker
(also of Wedmore) in Alta, Buena Vista County, Iowa.
