> Hello all,

> My family ties to this area come from my 5x great grandparents Stephen
WARD

>
> The information that I have so far is:
>
> Stephen WARD - born circa 1791, Wedmore, married Sarah Mary WELCH - born
> circa 1780, Evercreetch? Stephen and Sarah married on the 27th March 1815
in
> Wedmore, Somerset.
>
> They had four children, Isaac (c. 29 Feb 1816), Charles (b. 2 June 1824),
> Charlotte (birth unknown) and Winifred who died aged 2 months.
>
> Isaac married Eve EVANS of Cheddar on 29th May 1839, living there for
> several years before sailing to New Zealand in 1842. He worked for Mr
> Sampson Kempthorne of Somerset for the first seven years to pay for their
> passage over to NZ.
>
> Charles married Anna Sarah ROGERS in Wedmore on 28th May 1845 and they
lived
> in the area until they too emigrated to New Zealand in 1853.
>
> In the 1851 Census, I found Stephen and Sarah with the following details
> (Part of the Parish of Wedmore, Coombe Batch, Mill Lane, Flood Street 5
> Wedmore, WARD Stephen 60 Ag. Lab Pauper Wedmore, Som. Sarah 68
Evercreetch)
> but no mention of Charles and his wife Anna.
>
> The only other information that I have is that Sarah Mary WARD (nee WELCH)
