Hi Elaine, from Hazel Hudson's excellent book 'The New Wedmore Chronicles'.
Heath House is [also] a place name made up of words we still use and 
understand.
Before about 1500 the usual description of the unenclosed, uncultivated 
moor.......
was 'the Hethe.' From 1543 onwards the settlement on the hill slope just 
above the moor became known as 'Heath House' - the house[s] by the heath or 
moor.
