Well well, and I was floating a balloon which I expected to transform into
a red herring!  The similar geological backgrounds, and parallel mines, may
turn out to be a coincidence.  But it's more fascinating if knowledge of
Dubuque County IA came from mining interests rather than just from a
conversation with a chance-met stranger or a newspaper advertisment.

Could I suggest Elborough Mine,  Elborough Hill, near Banwell.  And there's
also Hutton near Banwell, though I don't know if it had mines.  Certainly
seems the right area for the Dyers.
