Hello Tim,=20
Thanks for the information, someone else has suggested that there =
were Hawkings in the Burnham area, so we will bear this in mind in =
deciding where to look next.
Many thanks for your help,
Best Wishes ....
Rita

Hello Rita
I don't know if this will help, but there was a large family of =
Hawkings who farmed in Berrow (Northam Farm) and Brean (Brean Down Farm) =
from about 1800 onwards if not before (you will know these are just =
along the coast from Burnham, easy walking distance even from =
Hunstpill!). For example Jesse Hawkins married one of my Champion =
cousins in 1902, he was born in Berrow in 1861, died at Brean Down 1917; =
his father was Edmund, born in Berrow 1832, son of Frederick born in =
Berrow 1805.=20
best wishes
Tim Curtin

I am helping my brother-in-law with his Family History and we have =
traced back to Charles HAWKINGS born 1827 in Huntspill. His parents were =
Grace CHAPMAN who married James HAWKINGS on 1st April 1820 at Mark. We =
have had considerable success with the CHAPMAN side, (some due to =
discussions on this list), but have had no luck so far with James =
HAWKINGS.
According to the 1851 census, James was born around 1798/9 in =
Bristol but he married Grace CHAPMAN at Mark and their children were =
born at Murray Farm, Huntspill. The 1801 census shows 3 families of =
HAWKINGS in Huntspill but strangely there are no HAWKINGS births there =
before 1800. This would suggest that they moved into the area, probably =
from Bristol around 1799.
Is there anyone on the list who has HAWKINGS in their tree or =
has come across them or Murray Farm in their research?
Thanks in advance..
Rita
