I'm trying to locate more information on the John
Davey family. I had a poor copy of a picture of
their home with a hand written notation that it was in
Wedmore Parish, Theal, Somersetshire.
John Davey Sr. (Born 1782) married Elizabeth Millard
(1874), but when and where. In the on-line Wedmore
Parish baptismal records I find John and Elizabeth
Davey the parent of Hannah Davey (1809), John Jr.
(1810) and Edward (1812). This Edward died in 1813.
Since this record ends in 1812, I can't find anything
for Edward (born 1814), David (1819), Hester (1817),
Maria (1821), Elizabeth (1823), and George (1826). US
census lists them as all being born in England.
John Davey Jr. immigrated to Auburn, New York in 1828,
and stayed with his uncle Edward Davey. Then he moved
to Skaneateles, New York. The rest of the family
immigrated to Skaneateles in 1830. I can find no
record of daughter Hannah in the US, an since she
would have been 21 in 1830, I'm guessing she was
already married and stayed in England, but her
marriage or death isn't in the Parish records.
The Wedmore Parish records also doesn't list a
marriage for John and Elizabeth, or their baptisms.
There are a lot of Millards listed but not Elizabeth.
I would appreciate any information of this family and
their relatives in England. I've located information
on most of the US descendants, and by the way my
mother was a Davey, and I'm a sixth generation
descendant of John Sr..
