My only interest in the Athay family is through William Athay, born in
Shipham, Somerset, who married Jane Thomas, born in Cheddar, Somerset.
William Athay's parents were Charles Athay and Grace Tripp, both born about
1805. The Thomas family is my direct line actually, and when one cannot find
family history directly, they try anything. Such is what I am doing with the
Athay line, with my 2nd great grandmother's sister marrying into the Athay
family. My 2nd great grandmother was Elizabeth Thomas. She married twice -
- first to James Thomas, and 2nd to George Evans. Her sister was Jane, who
was born in 1836 and married William Athay. Thanks for asking. Barbara
Spain
