Further to my previous message: Lot Latcham was born in 1827 but I have
found no record of his birth. He had brothers --Robert, b. 27.2.1821,
Matthew, b. 1830 and possibly John, b. 25.12.1922. Perhaps there were
others. They were sons of Simon and Ann. Ann was born at Pilton in 1791. Lot
was murdered at Brisbane, Queensland in 1894. He was returning to Sydney to
see his wife and family---and his mother!! I can find no record of Ann
Latcham in Australia at that time, nor any death record. An Ann Latcham
married a Mr. Wall in Wedmore and I have traced an Ann Wall in Sydney. Could
she have divorced Simon after his trial for arson and re-married? I believe
you are correct in suggesting that Simon was a son of William and Sarah
rather that James and Hannah.
