Laurie,
Settlement records should be in the Parish Records, appeals against removal
orders in the Quarter Sessions records.
In <SRO D/P/wed 13/3> are settlement orders and certificates for the Wedmore
parish.
<13/3/1> contains 146 documents re settlement examinations between 1739 and
1856.
<13/2/2> contains 36 settlement certificates between 1676 and 1810.
<13/2/3> contains removal orders to Wedmore 125 docs from1772 to 1856
<13/2/4> contains removal orders from Wedmore 132 docs from 1692 to1854.
You can see from the numbers and the time spans that there are not many
records in existence.
I have COOK ancestors, they were in Durweston in Dorset. Have you any from
down that way?

I understand that in the 1800s people moving from one parish to another had
to have some form of permission to settle. My basic question to the list is,
where in Parish record films am I likely to find these details? As far as I
can see my Cook family moved between Wedmore, Clevedon and Kingston Seymour.
I can find Baptisms, Burials and Weddings but Settlements?
