Not the Quakers, I suspect.  There's something Anglican called The Girls =
Friendly Society, but that wasn't formed until the 1870s.  However,  =
there are still more general Friendly Societies in the UK and Australia =
and so on - self-help organizations going back to the 1830s or some =
such.

  I belive "The friendly society" reffers to the Quaker movement.
