Matthew,
Thank you for following up on my recent message. I do not know if my =
GREEN family is of Wedmore origin or not. I have not heard of the =
SWANTONS and PORCHES at this point. =20

You probably already have this information but according to my records =
Edwin,(son of William) married Sarah Binning of Panborough who was the =
daughter of Jeremiah), on April 28, 1840 at Wedmore. Thier children =
were baptised at Wookey: Mary Ann March 8, 1842, Elizabeth (evidently =
died young) August 16, 1843, and William Brown August 25, 1844. A later =
son, Frederick John was baptised at Weare on April 11, 1854. (his father =
was descrdibed as a farmer. The family were living at Weare according =
to the 1851 census, with Edwin still shows as a carpenter. I also show =
that Edwin and Sarah's other daughter Elizabeth was baptised in Weare on =
June 11, 1848. This is so confusing.

Please keep me posted of any new information and I will do the same. =
Thank you.

Nancy, thanks for the reply. I have written to Mrs. Wildey, I did not =
speak to her on the phone. I did speak briefly to her son, he mentioned =
Edwin Duckett, Weare and also Wookey. He said he would write after =
Christmas so we did not discuss anything in detail.
I should say that I am a double Duckett and that the families in =
question are related to my mother and not my father.=20
I have four references to Edwin Duckett of Weare. 1) His marriage to =
Sarah Binning in Wedmore on 28 4 1840. 2) The 1851 census that you have =
enclosed. 3) The baptism of Elizabeth in Weare on 11 6 1848. 4) The =
baptism of a second son, Fredrick John in Weare on 11 4 1854 (Edwin is =
now a farmer). There are no more Weare references after that date as far =
as I can find.
Recent questions have arisen about William Brown Duckett, Edwin's =
eldest son, and his emigration to America. Sandi McGinnis, Joy Powney =
and Kristen Watts have all confirmed this for me on the Wedmore lists. =
He emigrated to Dyersville, Iowa in 1867, Kristen even managed to find =
an obituary. This suggests that Edwin died when William was still a =
child. I do not yet know what happened to the rest of Edwin's family. On =
his marriage record Edwin is the son of William of Wookey, that is =
probably enough to tie him back to other Ducketts that originated in =
Wedmore, (I will fill you in on this when I have a clearer idea where we =
are going) but I have not found Edwin's baptism or the full family.
I have never heard of George and Elizabeth Duckett of Stone Allerton =
but Stone Allerton is in Weare parish. I appear to have some work to do. =
It is possible that the answers lie in Chapel Allerton parish or =
elsewhere or that they became non conformists.
You do not say whether your Green family is of Wedmore origin or not. =
My mothers family have comparatively close connections to the Green =
family. I have heard of a Wallace Green of Shellingford in Oxfordshire, =
I believe he is dead. He had close connections to Wedmore and still has =
cousins in the area. He also did some work on the Wedmore Greens. Other =
families closely associated are the Swantons of West Pennard and the =
Porches of North Wootton. Does this mean anything to you ? These =
Ducketts while related to Edwin are not at all close.
I know Peter and Elizabeth well, I think Peter is a third cousin on my =
mothers side.
I have just checked a stray record that I had provisionally attached =
to another family. Fredrick George Duckett was buried in East Brent on =
29 6 1866 aged 12. I hope that Fredrick George and Fredrick John are not =
the same person, that would leave Edwin without a surviving son in the =
UK.
  Regards Matthew.
