Hi Fay and Stan,
I just don't know if this is the correct family or not. Many of the
Evans children would have been before the March 1820 wedding date of Sarah Brown
and William Evans. When Samuel Evans married Jane Roper registered in Axbridge
in 1849, Samuel was listed as from Cheddar. I have seen other references from
his siblings as being from Cheddar also. However, his father, William Evans,
from family notes said that William was from Bristol. The only other
information I have is the names of siblings. Also family information that Samuel,
Jane, and James Hill were childhood friends. So I presume they lived in the same
area. James Hill was also from Somerset and was the Baptist minister for the
small church in Rockville, Iowa, where the families migrated.
If I had a date of death for William Evans, that would help. But, I
don't. Family notes say he lived to be 94.
Thank you for your help,
Joy
