Hi Kristen, I have been looking over my notes again. I have obviously =
misread Henry's age on his gravestone, your information says he died =
aged 85, I had thought it was 81. This confirms his date of birth as =
1792. As a result I can be certain of the next generation back.
George Popham married Mary Tucker 12 10 1780. George (of Westham) was =
buried 20 3 1795. Mary (of Westham) was buried 29 6 1827, aged 74. Their =
children were, 1) Gabriel baptised 26 7 1782, 2) Stephen baptised 2 8 =
1784, 3) blank baptised 24 1 1789, 4) Matthew baptised 2 2 1790, 5) =
Henry baptised 4 10 1792, 6) Phoebe baptised 31 5 1795 (daughter of Mary =
Popham, widow). Mary Popham was baptised 12 11 1753, daughter of Henry =
and Jane Tucker. George Popham may have been baptised 12 4 1757, son of =
George and Mary Popham.=20
The map that I mentioned shows, Mrs. Popham farming at Yew Tree Farm, =
Westham with Stephen next door. Henry is in Blackford. The map shows =
Blackford Church, this was built in 1825, so the map must be between =
1825 and 1827. My notes confirm that Henry was farming at Westham in =
1841, but I can't work out which farm he was at, Stephen has =
disappeared. This means that "your Henry" above can not be the brother =
of "my Jane and Phoebe", as Phoebe was born in 1819 and Jane was married =
in 1835, and so was probably born around about 1810. It also means that =
the paintings may not be Henry above; this needs more work, but I still =
think they are closely related. Matthew.
