Hello Lyn
No doubt that would be Gemma as I don't think there is any other dog at the
George.
She's a sheep dog with a black and white coat.
A very good tempered dog until she sees farmers apparently - then she
growls.
I was told that she was taken in as a stray so perhaps there is some history
of mistreatment.
She usually hangs around in the lower public bar and is persistent in trying
to get you to throw her rubber bone - a game of throw and retrieve.
BTW - I think tuesdays have the curry as a special - very much recommended.
As things stand I think we'll be over there next year possibly around May.
I forgot to ask the publican about what happened to the old sign that hung
over the door that leads to the games room etc - it commemorated King
Alfred's visit in 878 for the christianising ceremony of the Danish war
chief Guthrum following the decisive battle of Ethendun.
This sign had been there many years.
All the best
Martin
