This is for those of you interested in the Fear family, as well as
Thomas, Evans, and Cooke families.
From the 1881 Battens Lane, Wedmore census: William Fear, head of house,
age 32, farm laborer, married, b. Wedmore; his wife, Hester, age 30, b.
Wedmore; and children, all b. Wedmore: John, age 11; Mary, age 9; Fred, age 7;
Herbert, age 5, and Agnes, age 1.
I have one connection to the Fear family, as follows:
Elizabeth Thomas, b. 1837 Cheddar, married George Evans Jr., b. 1847,
Wedmore. George was a mason and lived at Battens Lane, Wedmore, in 1881. His
parents were Elizabeth and George Evans Sr. Elizabeth Thomas, George's wife who
was b. 1837, had parents named Anna and Amary Thomas. Elizabeth Thomas and
George Evans Jr. had three children, all b. in the hamlet of Heathhouse:
Elizabeth Jane, b. 1868, m. Gilbert John Cooke; William, b. 1871, nothing else
known of him; and Sarah Ann, b. 1872, m. John Fear, son of Hester and William Fear
(as above).
