I don't know of anywhere, I suspect my information came from Hazel =
Hudson's excellent book on Wedmore "The New Wedmore Chronicles". A =
necessary reading for those with ancestors from Wedmore. The original =
chronicles can be downloaded from Michaet Tutton's Wedmore web site - of =
sure most of you know this.

The pattern was probably that some one from Wedmore went to Iowa, found =
they liked it and the freedom it it provided, recommended it to friends =
and relations from Wedmore and they followed, certainly Pitman and =
Walters from my family went and others appeared to follow.

Perhaps one way to do it would be for the Wedmore 1851 census to be =
compared with the 1860 Iowa Census - if there was one, and similaly with =
the following census. Many of us have the 1851 Wedmore census and some =
the USA 1880 census on CDs, that only seems to give to give the birth =
place as England, so a certain amount of deduction and reasoning is =
required.

I have indexed the 1851 by name (unchecked) for my purposes from the =
pages numbers of my printout, I suspect this will not be the same for =
everyone.

Somewhere I read some 60 families went from Wedmore alone, mostly to =
Iowa. Some of mine did and are now all over the USA.
