I found this online Independence Township, Michigan.
My relative is Flower Evans Irish, sister of Samuel Evans of Cheddar.
John Irish
wife Flower Evans natives of Cheddar, Somerset, England.
children: Fannie (Millard) Irish 1843-1867
John & Washington Irish born U.S.
John Irish was a stone mason/plasterer in England. He and Flower traveled to
Onondagag County, New York in 1848. In 1849, they settled in Michigan. John
became a farmer and also bred cattle.
I am still looking for someone who has access to the 1851 census for Cheddar
and could look for the Evans family group that did not emigrate to the U.S.
Flower and Samuel Evans parents were William and Elizabeth Evans of Cheddar.
They also had a daughter Harriet Evans who remained and did not emigrate until
about 1869. Also another son John Evans of which I have no information. The
other Evans children all settled in Rockville, Delaware County, Iowa, near
Dyersville.
Thanks for any help,
Joy in California
