Hi John, in reply to your earlier question, yes I am in the U.K.=20
I do not not have a Duckett baptised in Wedmore on 18th. Oct. 1846, but =
I may have missed it. I do have a William on 18th. Oct. 1847. He was the =
son of John & Mary, I don't think he is the right one because of the =
Brown connection. He possibly died in 1855 but that needs some work. =
Curiously, in 1851, this family were living in a cottage, now =
disappeared, that stood in a field I bought about twelve years ago. John =
also died young (1855 aged 41, Blackford) their family also disappeared, =
with the exception of a son George who was with his family in Wells in =
1881.=20
Anyway back to William Brown Duckett, I am satisfied that his parents =
were Edwin & Sarah nee Binning, who were married Wedmore 28th April1840. =
Edwin's father is given as William of Wookey. I think he was William =
baptised Wedmore 7th. March 1792; married Frances Stott of Burcott at =
St. John's Bedminster 10th February 1812; buried Wedmore, 31st July =
1826.=20
I have very little hard information on William and Frances's children. =
Fredrick Stott Duckett baptised Wells 11th October 1812 is definite. =
Edwin is probable. William Brown buried Wedmore 9th September 1826 is =
another probable. There is plenty of room for others despite William's =
early death. I also have an Eliza Duckett (nee Day), widow aged 36 in =
Street in 1851 and her husband would be another candidate. Much of this =
depends on geography, and family names. Burcott is a hamlet of Wookey =
and not too far from Wedmore. Fredrick Stott Duckett lived in =
Glastonbury as did Eliza Duckett's daughter (with her uncle Thomas Day). =
The parents of William husband of Francis were George and Elizabeth nee =
Brown. George's eldest brother James married Joan Day.
The key to all this is to find the parish where Edwin was baptised. It =
was not Wedmore, Theale or Wells, the Wookey Parish Records have been =
very disappointing so far but I have not finished . There is a grave =
stone in Wookey Church Yard to a ..... Duckett Day, but nothing else.=20
I hope that anyone interested is not totally confused -- and has a good =
map.
Matthew. =20

Hello there
Thenearest William Duckett I can see in the Wedmore C of E registers =
is William Duckett, baptised 18th October 1846. Do you think he was the =
one? Is there anywhere a note of his father's name? His mother could =
have been a Brown.
