Friendly societies are mutual aid organisations designed to help =
people protect themselves against hardship. The idea of friendly =
societies goes back at least as far as the seventeenth century. They =
were seen as a solution to the problems people and their families knew =
they would face should they fall ill or die leaving their children or =

new towns and industries developed in the nineteenth century and people =
found it difficult to rely on village communities. State provision for =

Hi Sandi,
There are three Paul Mapstones, in England, who are all related to me, so I
wonder which one it was, two are in their late forties and the other in his
late fifties.

Dear Friends,
I have been given two Family Trails on my Millard (Wedmore) Ancestors.
Both agree that a William Millard married Alice Latham on the 11-04-1722 =
in Wedmore.
One says that this William Millard was baptised on the 20-9-1679 and his =
mother was Joanna Lansdowne. (William married at 43?)=20
The other says that this William Millard was baptised on the 2-5-1706 =
and his mother was Mary Hodges. (William married at 16?)
I would very much appreciate any guidance I could receive as to who is =
this William Millard's mother.
Thanking you, Joe Crane, Australia.
ps Well done in the Cricket. Good luck at the weekend. jc

Hi Joe
A small correction:
William MILLARD married Alice LATCHAM not Latham on 11-04-1722.
At least this is what I found in the parish records and what Michael Tutton
has on his Wedmore site.
A pretty important correction to a Latcham
Marjorie Keates nee Latcham
