Hi Barbara!
Apologies for the delayed response - this is the first time I've picked up the reigns of my genealogy since Christmas! Many thanks for the information about Jane (Thomas) Athay. Her children with Henry Fisher were Emma born c1877 and Oliver born c1879. I looked for her on the 1871 census but couldn't find her, so I looked for Amery Thomas and found 2 grandchildren children living there - Charles and Adaline. Adaline was only 8 months but there is no mention of Jane. I'll keep looking just in case I've missed something! Do you know what William died of?
Thanks
Liz

Liz: Yes, I had an Amery Thomas who was married to Anna (surname unknown). This couple had six children, including a daughter named Jane, b. 1836, Cheddar, who married William Athey. This couple had three children: Adeline; Elizabeth; and Charles. William Athey died in 1860, and it is certainly possible that Jane remarried to your ancestor, Henry Fisher. When William Athey died, the three children were very young, so it is also possible that these children were raised by Henry Fisher, though certainly even more possible that Jane and Henry had their own children to add to her three children. Let me know, if you will, the names of the children of Jane and Henry. Thanks for writing. Barbara
