The list is very, very quiet so I thought I'd post some transcripts I am
doing from the Bristol Mercury.=20

There were 52 prisoners for trial, including those on bail. Of those in
custody 12 could neither read not write, 11 read imperfectly, 11 read and
write imperfectly, and 5 only could read and write well.

Robert WARD (24) and George PATCH (17) labourers, were found guilty of
breaking and entering a building, and stealing sixteen ducks, the property
of George KINGSTON. The former was sentenced to eight, and the latter to
four months imprisonment.

James HARDING was summoned for non-payment of bastardy arrears to Elizabeth
VEALE, of Wedmore; but the parties having agreed to get married, the case
was adjourned. (note by transcriber - there were sometimes good incentives
from the Churchwardens to get married including cash payments)

William HEATH, of Wedmore, was summoned for keeping a dog without a license.

On the 2nd inst. George PATCH, Jas. THORNTON, William TYLEY, Charles
JEFFERIES, and Henry HARVEY were summoned by William AMEY, for breaking up
his fence and burning it on his land, at Wedmore, on the 5th inst., thereby
doing damage to the amount of =A31 10s. Fined 5s. each and costs, and =A31 =
10s
damaged. George PATCH, one of the defendants in the above case, was summone=
d
by Henry LARDER, for burning his trousers on the above occasion, and also
for assault. He was fined 2s 6d. in each case, ? damage and costs.

William ADAMS, Edward STEPHENS, and Thomas MAPSTONE were summoned by Richar=
d
CAWER for destroying his fence on the 5th inst., and doing damage to the
extent of 2s. STEPHENS  and ADAMS  were discharged, MAPSTON was fined 2s
6d., 1s damage and costs.

 John GIBLETT? Was fined 2s 6d. and costs for an assault on John FRANCIS at
Wedmore, on the 10th inst.

 Edward FROST was charged with stealing a =A35 note entrusted to him by
Richard ALLEN to change at Mark, on the 15th inst.=20
