Hello John
The marriage cert. from St.Catherine's house states Benjamin Coombs Mapstone
and Pammela Elizabeth Parker were married at "The Parish Church in the Parish
of Wedmore" on October,11th 1848. Their age is cutely given as "Full Age".
Pammela's father's profession is given as Carpenter and after Benjamin
describes himself as a Farmer on the wedding cert. he is later described as a
carpenter.
I have long suspected that his father-in-law taught him Carpentry perhaps as
a better source of income for his new son-in-law and daughter which
consequently led to two further generations of Mapstones ( Robert then Norman
) becoming Carpenters in there own right in Wedmore.
I believe there may be some remaining articles of Norman Mapstone's work
still in existence - perhaps Tim Curtin could set me right on that as I
visited your parents many years ago and learnt there may be a bookcase and
someting else still in use.
Best Regards
Martin.
