Hi Karla,
I'm not going to be much help with your question--I do know that there
are cemeteries at the Anglican St Mary's church in Wedmore and also at
the Wedmore Methodist church. Have you checked the parish records?
Assume you have. I'm sure that someone on the List will be able to help
you more.
Actually I have more questions about your great grandmother, Amelia Jane
Wall. The name caught my eye and the fact that she went from Wedmore
area to the Dyersville area as did my family. My great grandmother was
Amelia Tincknell b. 1856 in Dyersville, IA of Wedmore parents. Her
mother was Betsey Roper Tincknell and her sister, Jane Roper Evans had a
daughter, Amelia Jane Evans b. 1851 in Burlington, WI. Another daughter
of Jane Roper Evans was Abbie b. 1865 in Dyersville and she married
Edward D. Wall (parents John & Elizabeth Wall) in Dyersville. All of
these ancestors I have mentioned all later moved to Alta, Buena Vista
Co, IA starting in 1873. I remember Abbie Wall from when I was a small
child and knew her daughter, Maesel well. Abbie was 9 years older than
my grandmother.
I am wondering if there are any relationships with your family and
mine? I don't have any information on Edward D. Wall's parents other
than their names.
Are you familiar with the book "Dyersville, It's History and Its People"
by Rev. Arthur A. Halbach, 1939? I have a copy and it only deals with
the early settlers in the 1840's but does have good history of that time
period when many came over from Wedmore area.
Did Amelia Jane Wall marry in Dyersville? And I am curious about where
she lived and died. Really interesting to find other researchers with
family from Wedmore going to Dyersville!
