Hi Martin, Reuben was baptised 10th Dec. 1812, and buried 21st. Oct. 1849 in
Compton Martin, which gives his age as 31, assuming he was baptised soon
after he was born. I was interested in the cause of his death, where did this
info. come from?
Sarah Godfrey had a hard time of it, as after loosing Reuben she was married
twice to George Gallop, and then a Hawkins, who both died, as she was a widow
in the 1881 census, and described as 'Poor Wooman' (sic).
Reuben's daughter Charlotte was still in England in the 1881 census.
She married James Balch 25th Nov. 1858, St. Mary Kidcliff, and appears in the
1881 census at Ubley Sideland, Ubley, together with 5 children and her
mother. The name is given as Baltch, which is a transcription error.
Do you know who Mr. Brace was?
I would be interested in any other information you have.
Regards Stan
