Firstly thanks to Michael and all involved for the excellent additions to =
the website.

Secondly, Joe Crane has asked me to forward this query as he doesn't seem =
to be able to subscribe at the moment. Are these MILLARDS from Wedmore?:

My great grand-father, Joseph Millard, was convicted in Wells, Somerset =
in 1850 of "Larceny - before convicted of felony". He received 14 years =
imprisonment and transportation.

My problem is Joseph Millard's UK background. It would appear that he =
stole
15 pounds (a lot) in 1846 when he was 17. A big gap and next he was a
convict on a ship from UK in 1852. (He was given transportation in 1850.-
Wells Court Somerset). No record of any other conviction other than
stealing the 15 pounds. Do you think that they held him on remand or
something from 1846 to 1852?=20

This is all that I know so far. I would like some kind lister to tell me, =
or tell me how to find out:=20

The actual date of his trial? (maybe in the Epiphany session, =
January to March 1850).
His parents names? (maybe Stephen and Mary (nee Foxwell) Millard =
of Croscombe).
His date of birth? (maybe 1928).
To what prison he was sent? (maybe Portland, Dorset)

Thanking you in advance, Joe Crane, Mooloolaba, Australia.
