Hi all current and ex-Wedmorians,

My Line arrived in America in 1842, or earlier.

William Gibbs, wife Nancy (Wall) Gibbs, children Joseph, Charles, Ann, Mary,
and Elizabeth arrived in Jordan, New York (just West of Syracuse on the Erie
Canal) in June 1842. They chose Jordan because one of William's older sons,
John was working in the grist mill there, having preceded the family.
William purchased a 100-acre farm just North of Jordan that month. Nancy
died there, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph and Charles were married at the farm.

In 1855, Joseph, his wife Mercy (Gibbs) (keel/Kiel/Keil) Gibbs and Charles
traveled to Bremmer County, Iowa where the purchased farms. Charles
returned to Jordan the following year to marry Mary Jane Joyce of
Skaneateles and bring her, his father William, and sister Ann to Iowa.

Another of William's sons, James, had come over with John, had found his way
to Illinois where he married Mercy Keel/Kiel/Keil, and died there in 1848.

Son Jeremiah came to America with wife Eliazbeth (Foord) Gibbs, and
children, sometime before 1849, stopped briefly in Jordan, was In Wisconsin
for the 1850 census, and settled in Delaware County, Iowa in 1851.

One of William's nephews, George Gibbs accompanied James Dyer and settled in
Delaware County, Iowa in 1849.
