Hello Everyone,
And a special Hello to Stephen L Brown who made the link for me to =
complete the pedigree of my 2x great grandfather, George BROWN of =
Blakeway.=20
George's children who married into Wedmore families are Elizabeth, who =
married Richard WALL (c.1865), George who married Mary Ann MEAD (1880) =
and then Mary TINKNELL,(1891),Eliza Jane who married George WALL of Mark =
(1877),Louisa who married George WALL of Theale, Charles who married Ann =
WALL (c.1905) and James who married Fanny HARDWICK LEIGH ALFORD in 1892. =
I do not have marriages for Anna Maria (born 1846), Edward (born 1849) =
or
Joseph (born 1852).
My own great grandmother, Phoebe Ann married a Devon man, George Ellis =
PIKE.
Stephen, the item about Fanny Hardwick's grandmother was a surprise. And =
yes , Fanny did stay on in America. I have her obituary which states =
that she died in Skaneateles N.Y. on August 4 1923.
The first of the family to make the journey about 1885 to New York State =
where he had a contact, was Robert Wall, son of Elizabeth. When he was =
settled he sent for brothers and sisters to join him. Eventually his =
uncles Joseph, James and Charles joined him also. All except Joseph seem =
to have continued farming. Joseph died in Fresno, California in 1921.
I too, would be interested to know why the first Wedmore settlers made =
the move to America.=20
Regards to All,
Fay Edgar, North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND =20
