Hello again cousin Fay,
And thanks for a wonderfully enlightening post much of which was =
brand new information for me. Congratulations on your exceedingly =
excellent research!
In addition to the children you name of George and Ann Brown there =
was also a Tamer born about Jan 1851 . . I assume she died young?
Regarding the Walls you mentioned I have Richard baptized Nov 1836 =
the son of Robert Wall and Sarah Clarke. George baptized 12 May 1850 the =
son of Moses and Elizabeth. Is this correct so far? The George Wall born =
1854 at Mark I surmise to be the son of Charles Wall and Mary. Although =
he gives Mark as his birthplace which might well be true is this not the =
Charles baptized Wedmore 8 Feb 1816 the son of Thomas Wall and Elizabeth =
Popham? This would make the George who married Louisa and Richard to be =
third cousins , their common ancestors being John Wall and =
Christopheranna. The George that married Eliza Jane is in turn their =
third cousin once removed. Truly fascinating. I have Mary Ann Mead but =
was not aware of the second marriage to Mary Tincknell . . could you =
tell me who she was? Also anything you have on Ann Wall wife of Charles.
I believe you can find James Brown future husband of Fanny Hardwick =
in the 1881 Census for Merthyr Tydfil , Glamorgan , he is an Ostler. The =
LDS transcription I think is an attempt at Blakeway , Wedmore. Also in =
Merthyr Tydfil is one Joseph Brown age 30 born Somerset also employed as =
an Ostler. At Cardiff St.Johns there is an Edward Brown age 31 born =
Somerset. Its a pity they could not be more specific about their place =
of birth! I remember doing this research quite some time ago and making =
a note that they could well be the three brothers. What do you think? =
Also in residence at the home of Edward is a nephew by the name of =
Loxton. This is a lucky break and would indicate that his wifes maiden =
name might well be the same. It could be that all three brothers =
migrated to South Wales at least for a time in search of work. I would =
suggest a Sarah Loxton marrying an Edward Brown probably at Wells would =
be a good area of research. Like you I never could find anything on Anna =
Maria. Some folks just disappear into the ether.
So Fanny died at Skaneateles . . . how amazing! So many Wedmore =
people found their way to that town. Other than the Finger Lakes region =
being a very scenic part of the country what was the attraction?
I had not realized you were in NZ . . . I have a sister that lives =
in Perth , Western Australia. Once again excellent work and if I find =
anything new I will of course keep you posted.
Regards ,=20

Hello Everyone,
And a special Hello to Stephen L Brown who made the link for me to =
complete the pedigree of my 2x great grandfather, George BROWN of =
Blakeway.=20
George's children who married into Wedmore families are Elizabeth, who =
married Richard WALL (c.1865), George who married Mary Ann MEAD (1880) =
and then Mary TINKNELL,(1891),Eliza Jane who married George WALL of Mark =
(1877),Louisa who married George WALL of Theale, Charles who married Ann =
WALL (c.1905) and James who married Fanny HARDWICK LEIGH ALFORD in 1892. =
I do not have marriages for Anna Maria (born 1846), Edward (born 1849) =
or
Joseph (born 1852).
My own great grandmother, Phoebe Ann married a Devon man, George Ellis =
PIKE.
=20
Stephen, the item about Fanny Hardwick's grandmother was a surprise. =
And yes , Fanny did stay on in America. I have her obituary which states =
that she died in Skaneateles N.Y. on August 4 1923.
The first of the family to make the journey about 1885 to New York =
State where he had a contact, was Robert Wall, son of Elizabeth. When he =
was settled he sent for brothers and sisters to join him. Eventually his =
uncles Joseph, James and Charles joined him also. All except Joseph seem =
to have continued farming. Joseph died in Fresno, California in 1921.
I too, would be interested to know why the first Wedmore settlers made =
the move to America.=20
