Apologies for not replying sooner, but I have had a month in South Africa. I
had a chat with Eric Wride of Blackford. His mother's family have been in
Wedmore for years and he has done a lot of work on them. Unfortunately his
father was born in Wick St. Lawrence near Weston super Mare and had no
earlier connection with Wedmore. He pointed out that a Joseph Wride was
listed as a rate payer in the 1840 rate book, he is also listed in 1791 as
having 30 acres 3 roods and 19 perches. Regards Matthew Duckett
