I think John is correct about there not being a specific settlement in Iowa.
One of the men, Richard "Dickie" Baker came over early, about 1850 and from
what I've seen written encouraged, and helped financially, many other
friends and relatives to make the move in the 1860's to the "Johns Creek"
area south of Dyersville, Iowa could by providing work on his large farm and
a place for them to stay until they were ready to do so on their own. It is
in our family record that he did that to help my g.g.grandfather William
Wall and his family in the middle 1860's.

To all Wedmorerians
I don't think there was a specific Wedmore Settlement in Iowa. I suspect two
or three families went over and then reported back on the opportunities.
Others followed, perhaps meeting up, and then doing their own thing, usually
farming. I don't doubt many keep in contact for a generation or two as we do
nowadays and then contact was lost until family historians came around en
masse!
