Thank you, I was wondering about that.  

The Dyers do seem to have had strong ties to the western Mendips, however -
an area of lead mining, I assume, certainly Carboniferous limestone.  Just
those things that first attracted English miners to the part of Iowa
eventually settled by our Somerset people??
