This won't answer your question at all, but may tie in at some point. I =
have a Jane Roper (daughter of Hugh & Jane Davis Roper of Wedmore), =
born/baptized 4 May 1824 in Wedmore who married Samuel Evans 28 Feb 1849 =
in Cheddar. I do not have Samuel Evans parents names. Do not know if =
there could be a relationship between your Evans and Samuel Evans of =
Cheddar but they are in a fairly close time frame. I do not know if =
there were a number of Evans families in Cheddar in the 1820-1840 time =
frame but probably someone else on the list will know. Incidentally, =
Samuel & Jane Roper Evans left Eng in 1849, settling first in Wisconsin =
& then in 1853 in Iowa.

Subject: [WED]Thomas & Evans families in Wedmore

My maternal great grandfather was Albert James Thomas, born in Cheddar =
on 1 September 1866. A woman named Elizabeth Evans is involved in this =
family. Perhaps she was married to James Thomas, Albert James Thomas' =
father, before she married George Evans. I think her father was Amary =
Thomas, born about 1801 in Cheddar. His wife's name was Anna (surname =
unknown), born about 1814 in Cheddar. I believe from census records, =
that Amary and Anna Thomas had the following six children: Jane, b. =
1836, who married an Athay (William perhaps); Amary, b. abt. 1843, who =
married Dorcas someone; Elizabeth, born in 1837, who I think married a =
Thomas and then an Evans; Thomas, b. in 1844, who married Anna; John, =
born in 1834; and George, born about 1845. Elizabeth Thomas is buried =
in Wedmore. Does anyone relate to any of these people, and can you help =
me solve the puzzle.
